Richard Montanari writes good stories, which all take place in parts of Philadelphia. I found this story not quite as good as the previous 3 or 4 that I read. This is a cop yarn but his characterizations of Byrne and Balzano as real people are good. The slightly other-world psyche of Byrne is kind of off-putting, he has 'premonitions' due to a cranial injury. They only help somewhat with resolution of the Crime of the Month.

Spell binding. So many twist and turns. So many murders. This book was wonderful. I had no idea " who done it" until the very end.
This was such a good book, I looked for more by this author and apparently another one is going to be out soon so I will definitely read it!
You don't know what the end is going to be. Masterful writer. Very good visuals. Good book! Good characters. Maybe part of a series?
I love the partner relationship that Balzano and Byrne share. Theirs is a life and death partnership, and it really works. I never did figure out who the bad guy was - incredibly well done. This is my 3rd book in this series. Up next, Badlands. Can't wait!
Each fleshed out with real characters and the romance is not too problematic as is often the case. The actual cases are allowed to take forefront and develop over the hefty 519 pages, worth the price paid. Go for it!
The complicated yet intriguing and mostly realistic plot. The in depth and dynamic characters. The historical details woven throughout in support of both the plot and the characters. All add up to an engrossing story. A+ story telling.
I really like his writing, but the plots are not realistic. Characters are well developed, but the psychic detective bit is too much! There were several coincidences that were never explained, guy kills girl who had reported his footprint to police? How would he have known if he had committed a lot of robberies in the area. The ending of this book was jyst totally unbelievable!
