I sat and read this book from one end to the other in one night !! I just couldn't put it down. More than a story of a great adventure on a motorcycle, it brought a very surreal peace to me... I too have so many similiar accounts throughout my life, and I live across the Pond and on the northern portion of the left coast of the USA. I wanted to have more as the story came to its end... I feel as though Dave Clarke is one of my long lost friends.
What is a strange twist to all of this is that this morning as I walked into my own garage I was greeted with my own Gleaming Red Vulcan... mine being the 1700 Vulcan Voyager. All I can say is... Dave I truly hope that our paths cross someday !! I would love to tag along on one of your epic journeys !!

Great read about a normal every day bloke, about his life,the ups and downs and how he went out and did what a lot of us dream about
I read this book within 3 days on my . What a truly inspiring tale of a trip I'd love to do, albeit on my 2011 Triumph Thruxton.
The mix of ancedote and road trip mix very well, incorporating a ride through life, and a ride around mainland Britain.
If I could write a book, this would be the basis for it!

I cannot rate this highley enough! A heart warming insight into the life and psyche of the author, woven into a detailed whirlind coastal motorcycle tour of our Great and Beautiful Britain. I was hooked from the first page to the annoyance of my lovely wife. Very much hoping to see more from this author. A really refreshing, open honest life story from a rare commodity these days....A normal bloke?!
I really enjoyed this read as I felt it gave a perfect insight into the mind of a biker fanatic and family man who juggled to balance the two loves of his life, bikes and family, written with humour and honesty.

The book itself is full of his journey round the coast of Britain on his beloved Vulcan and the people he met on his route all carefully crafted into his words, but it is also a book about his life and love over the years.It is woven with interesting insights into life in the 50'sand 60's through to the modern era.

Gives a good insight into life in the UK both past and present and suggests a wonderful bike route round some of the UK's most scenic roads.

A real must read for anyone bike fanatic or someone who enjoys real life stories, not gossipy show business tat.

A very good book enjoyed his exploits and tells very much.enjoyed his description of his trip and his life in general a very good book.
I love riding motorcycles. I can still feel the adrenaline rush and the camaraderie. There is no feeling quite like being at one with the motorcycle or feeling as though you are flying free. However, I didn't own a Harley Davidson nor did I own a Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic (an exceptional bike). I owned and rode a dirt bike - Bultaco - a classic Spanish motorcycle. I had fun riding it up and down hills and valleys where I lived in the countryside of Texas.
I enjoyed reading David Clark's book about his journey around the coast of Great Britain and his journey back in time through his childhood and later years.
Readers, this is a true story and it is well written.
If life is getting just a little bit dull and dusty around the frazzled edges, then now is the time to read a good book and have a few laughs.
The author and family man has been riding motorcycles for over forty years. He wrote about his experiences and observations, his worldliness and his love. Reading this made me want to get a Vulcan so I could tag along with him, if and when he takes another road trip. One of the good parts of this exceptional true story is We can go with Dave, see the sights, experience the eccentricities and won't even have to leave of the comfort of our easy chair or worry about bad weather.
