If you have a strong stomache, this is a good book! It gives you very detailed pictures in your head! War is horrible, I wish we could find a way to end it forever!
The style is florid and intentionally shocking but it is a good antidote to the romanticism of Ernst Jünger's 'Storm of Steel'. The author dealt in horrifying images of war rather than the more structured narrative of Remaque's 'Im Westen nichts Neues'.
